The BBC Sound Of 2015 longlist, compiled by around 140 music industry experts, has been announced.
The poll, which predicts the artists most likely to be a huge success in the next twelve months, mirrors last year’s list in that it is predominately made up of solo artists.
James Bay, who has entered the music industry with his first top 20 single ‘Hold Back The River’ in this week’s chart round-up, is one of the contenders. Up against him is Rae Morris whose collaborations with Clean Bandit and Bombay Bicycle Club have put her in a good position for the upcoming Sound of 2015 poll.
Other acts who feature on the prestigious list include London-based alt-rock band Wolf Alice, spoken word musician George the Poet and Kwabs with his electronic soul sound.
The top five acts will be revealed daily from Monday 5th January by BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens. The winner will be announced 9th January.
Previous winners of the poll include Sam Smith who went on to score a number one debut album this year with In The Lonely Hour, and Haim who performed to a full crowd at Glastonbury this year and have recently collaborated with Calvin Harris and Bastille.
