If Kit Harington truly has left Game of Thrones, it is likely he won’t feel too lonely on the set of his next movie, Brimstone. According to Deadline, Harington has signed up to star opposite Carice van Houten – who plays Game of Thrones‘s mystical red priestess, Melisandre – in the upcoming Western thriller.
Brimstone follows a young girl called Liz, who goes on the run from a vengeful reverend (Guy Pearce) after being accused of a crime she did not commit.
Harington acts as a replacement for Robert Pattinson, who was originally set to star in the movie. Other new cast members are Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows star Paul Anderson and Wetlands actress, Carla Juri.
Harington, who found fame on the HBO fantasy-drama, could have more free time on his hands in the coming months, given that he’s supposedly not returning to the show next season. His character. Jon Snow – a firm fan favourite – was part of a major cliffhanger in the much talked-about season five finale that aired earlier this month.
Writer-director Martin Koolhoven’s Brimstone is expected to be released at some point next year.
