The X-Files revival is still in mid-production in it’s hometown of Vancouver, with each passing week giving new insight into both the storyline and the talented guest star cast.
The first guest casting was announced not through FOX, but through known X-Files super fan Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley, The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail). Nanjiani has been hosting a popular weekly podcast entitled The X-Files Files since July 2014, with Nanjiani and a guest – including X-Files writers, actors, producers and directors – in which they reminiscence and discuss one of two episode in the series.
Nanjiani broke the news of his dream casting on Twitter, posting a photograph of himself with Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny, in what seems to be an animal control uniform. Nanjiani is set to star in the third episode entitled ‘Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster’, which is written and directed by Nanjiani’s favourite writer, Darin Morgan.
The other recent guest addition announcements from FOX are the additions of Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under) and Robbie Amell (The Flash). The pair will be starring as fellow FBI agents, with Ambrose as Agent Einstein and Amell as Agent Miller. The new agents only seem to be appearing in one episode – but with an uncanny resemblance to Mulder and Scully, we should be in for a laugh as to how the characters react to one another.
The X-Files is set to return to in 2016. Watch the teaser trailer below.
