According to TVWise, it is understood that Sky One is close to a deal with Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution to obtain the first UK broadcast of the six episode revival series of The X-Files.
Sources have allegedly indicated that Sky has been facing tough competition from the likes of Amazon Prime Instant Video UK, FOX UK, Channel 4 and ITV. Sky originally held the rights to the first nine seasons of the show when it originally aired between 1993-2002, while the BBC had rights for repeats.
If the rights do end up going to Sky, TVWise speculate that the deal would also include the previous nine seasons being available on the box-set section of Sky’s on-demand service. This would be a similar premise to that of 24, after it’s limited series, 24: Live Another Day, was broadcast.
TVWise also speculate that the revival will be broadcast on Sky1 within 24 hours of its US broadcast.
