The nominations for this year’s BAFTA awards have been announced, fuelling the hype for 2016’s awards season.
BAFTA host Stephen Fry was joined by Gugu Mbatha-Raw – one of last year’s Rising Star nominees – to announce the nominees early this morning.
The early frontrunners for this year’s awards are Carol and Bridge of Spies, which each have nine nominations. Brooklyn and The Martian received recognition in six categories, while The Big Short, The Danish Girl and Ex Machina received five nods.

The EE British Academy Film Awards will take place on Sunday 14th February at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, where Stephen Fry will preside as host for the eleventh time. Sponsored by EE, the Awards will also be broadcast exclusively on BBC One and BBC One HD that evening.
