Beloved British actor, Alan Rickman has died at the age of 69, following a battle with cancer.
His family confirmed that the actor, who is perhaps best known for his role as Professor Severus Snape in the Harry Potter films, died at his London home on Thursday 14th January.
Rickman’s breakthrough role came when he was selected to portray the villain Hans Gruber in Die Hard. Over the course of his career, which has spanned for more than three decades, Rickman has given extremely memorable performances in films such as Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Sense and Sensibility, Love Actually, Sweeney Todd, Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Dogma, Galaxy Quest and Alice in Wonderland.
Rickman also enjoyed critical acclaim, winning BAFTAs, Golden Globes and Emmys throughout his illustrious career in film.
He is survived by his wife, Rima and will be remembered fondly by fans, forever and “always.”
