Hollywood actress Debbie Reynolds has died at the age of 84, just one day after the tragic passing of her daughter, Carrie Fisher.
The Singin’ in The Rain star was rushed to hospital following a suspected stroke. She later died at Cedars-Sinai hospital. Her son, Todd Fisher, told Variety that “she wanted to be with Carrie.”
A talented singer, dancer and actress, Reynolds was one of MGM’s principal stars in the 1950’s and 60’s and achieved fame in such films as the 1952 musical Singin’ in the Rain and 1964’s The Unsinkable Molly Brown, for which she received an Oscar nomination for Best Actress.
Her other notable roles films include The Singing Nun, Divorce American Style and What’s the Matter with Helen? Reynolds also appeared in Will and Grace from 1999-2006 and most recently appeared in Steven Soderbergh’s 2013 drama, Behind the Candelabra as Frances Liberace.
