The X Factor contestant is back with his second single ‘Curtain Call’ and it really isn’t anything to get overly excited about. The single definitely isn’t as noticeable as his multi-layered exciting first single ‘Is This Love’. His vocals are the main focus of the verses of this slower single. The choruses are more upbeat with the introduction of percussion and a female vocalist but then we’re back to the dreary verses, in which Aiden’s vocals are the main focal point.
Perhaps this song will grow on me but as for first impressions it definitely doesn’t stand out. It sounds to me like it should have stayed as an album track and not been released as a single. It just doesn’t have the ‘oomph’ of some of the other tracks in today’s charts. Perhaps Mr Grimshaw is relying on his looks to sell his singles rather than the music itself. I’m sure he can rely on all those X-Factor fans to make sure his records sell.
