The newer melodic sound Bring Me have been going for recently is no more apparent than in this new single, and it's great.

When Bring Me The Horizon released ‘Drown‘ last year, it seemingly showed that the band were heading in a new direction by taking a small step away from the metal core they’d previously been associated with, and moving towards a more melodic, heavy rock sound. This has almost been confirmed by their latest release which was premiered on Daniel P. Carter’s rock show on Radio 1 on Sunday.
‘Happy Song’ not-so-coincidentally was released on the same day frontman Oli Sykes got married to long term girlfriend Hannah Pixie Snowdon. It is slightly heavier than the band’s previous release, but distinctively similar in terms of the sound they are trying to produce. The track brings heavy guitar riffs and licks throughout, with heavy drums and big-time vocals from Sykes.
You can imagine this track being huge when they play at festivals and in their arena shows, with fans across the world chanting back at the band when it is played. Now, there is no doubt that some hardcore metal fans may be disappointed with this record, but I think the complete opposite. I feel the newer members of the band (Jordan Fish on keyboard, Brendan MacDonald on rhythm) have clearly influenced a more melodic sound, and I personally think it’s great.
