‘Kamikaze’ doesn’t disappoint as the third collaborative effort of MØ and Diplo.

Danish-born MØ and Major Lazer’s Diplo are back with their third collaborative single, ‘Kamikaze.’ It follows the successes of ‘Lean On’, which was recently named as Spotify’s most globally streamed song of the summer, and ‘XXX 88’, which featured on MØ’s debut studio album No Mythologies To Follow.

The song opens with a catchy electronic beat and MØ’s distinctive vocals, which many people will immediately recognise from her previous work. This is largely a more chilled out and poppy track in comparison to her other releases, but still maintains her signature dance feel. ‘Kamikaze’ explores the idea of being restless and just wanting to have fun without worrying about the consequences, which is something that MØ definitely gets across with lyrics such as, “We’ve got 1-2-3 ’til the end of the world.”

It is important not to ignore Diplo’s contributions to the track in terms of production as this is certainly a confident and cohesive release by the pair. While it may not have the mainstream appeal of ‘Lean On’, it is without a doubt a fun and enjoyable track to listen to. Annie Mac certainly thinks so having named it the ‘Hottest Record in the World’ on her Wednesday Radio 1 show.

‘Kamikaze’ is out now via Sony Music.
